Shuttle Inspector (Transportation Services)

Purpose

  • The purpose of this post is to monitor and inspect the University student and staff shuttle service to ensure a safe, on time, reliable and professional shuttle services to students and staff.

Requirements
  • Grade 12, with three (3) years’ experience in similar / transport environment.
  • A valid Category B driver’s license is required.
Skills & Competencies
  • Good interpersonal skills with sound communication abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Have good knowledge of reading, writing skills
  • Computer literate (general word processing skills)
Responsibilities
  • Ensure all shuttles are correctly licensed and have the correct permits to operate
  • Ensure all shuttles are always properly equipped with required emergency and first aid equipment.
  • Monitor if shuttles have sufficient signage/identification in place to notify destinations
  • Route and Scheduling compliance
  • Ensure that shuttles are at the pick-up point 5minutes before departure time
  • Ensure students produce student cards to access shuttles
  • Report service problems (overcrowding of shuttles, students being unruly and insufficient shuttles)
  • Investigate lost items (students laptops, cell phones, wallet, books etc.)
  • Control students and ensure order and queuing system
  • Report drivers driving in an unsafe manner.
  • Draft monthly inspection reports
  • Resolve student complaints ad service provider
  • Draft accidents reports
