Purpose
- Mercedes-Benz Financial Services South Africa is seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified Legal and Collections Admin to undertake the administration, coordination, and management of insurance and deceased customer portfolios.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective collections administration, maintaining regular customer contact on arrear accounts, managing insurance and deceased claims processes, coordinating repossessions and litigation where required, processing administrative activities such as write-offs and hostile terminations, monitoring payment arrangements, maintaining accurate customer records and system updates, preparing asset committee documentation, and providing timely statistical and performance reports.
- The role is focused on minimising credit losses, reducing delinquency, ensuring compliance with departmental targets, and delivering efficient administrative support to the Collections function.
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 plus 3 year relevant qualification
- 3 to 5 years work experience in Financial Services Industry / Banking / Insurance environment
- NCA / FICA / FAIS accreditation advantage
- Experience in a Financial Services Legal and Collection environment an advantage

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, i.e. Customers, External Service Providers, Attorneys, Liquidators, MBSA employees, MBFS employees, MBFS Management Team.
- Administer, coordinate, manage and report on the Deceased portfolio through ensuring to maintain a current status or alternatively repossession of the assets, including management of the claims process to reduce the delinquency rate and minimising credit losses in support of agreed targets.
- Administer, coordinate, manage and report on the Insurance portfolio, including management of the claims process through ensuring to maintain a current status whilst awaiting settlement payout alternatively proceed with litigation in case of no insurance to reduce the delinquency rate and minimising credit losses in support of agreed targets.
- Administer and manage the Legal hand-over process and record keeping of matters in breach to Attorneys Firms to obtain Return of Asset orders and update notes and relevant fields in the collection system, drafting of compliance letters, signed affidavits and supporting documentation in order to courier them to the attorneys in a timely manner, within prescribed policies and procedures.
- Facilitate, coordinate, manage and report on the collection and clearing process for Deceased, Insurance, Return of asset (Handed over) and Insolvency matters optimally within prescribed timelines and in compliance with legislation to reduce the delinquency rate and minimising credit losses in support of agreed targets.
- Administer the process and safekeeping of Certificate of Balance documentation in support of the litigation procedures on matters for hand-over to the attorneys, within prescribed policies and procedures.
- Perform all ad hoc administrative activities such as waiving of fees and loading of invoices on Concur.
