Requirements
  • Relevant 3-year tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management or related field
  • Professional Officer – Minimum 2 to 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Senior Professional Officer – Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, with proven supervisory experience
Skills & Competencies
  • In depth knowledge of the relevant Acts, Policies and Procedures pertaining to the role
  • Computer Literacy: MS Office
Responsibilities

Senior Professional Officer:

  • Support the development of the Evaluation Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) which governs corporate Job Evaluation protocols
  • Identify current / future Job Evaluation corporate requirements in accordance with applicable legislation
  • Guide and advise various stakeholders, corporate project teams and consultants on Job Evaluation related matters
  • Present the Job Evaluation proposed outcomes to JE Governance structures.
  • Research, investigate and respond to matters raised by role players
  • Support key Job Evaluation projects, whilst ensuring high-quality outcomes
  • Frequent stakeholder engagements with relevant client areas and conducting relevant due diligence analysis and assessments
  • Develop and deliver presentations on Job Evaluation
  • Mentor and guide junior and newly appointed staff
  • Analyse statistical data and provide recommendations to inform management decision-making
  • Maintain and manage Job Evaluation information
  • To provide advice and guidance to and serve as expert witness at various Labour Forums and Legal platforms e.g. LLF, Bargaining Council, SALGA etc.

Senior Professional Officer: Job Evaluation (Team Lead) – Additional KPA’s to the above:

  • Design and implement Job Evaluation training and awareness initiatives
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders to exchange information on projects, programmes, policies, and systems
  • Supervise and Lead a Job Evaluation/Administrative Micro Team
  • Develop and present Job Evaluation approach and strategy to internal and external high level stakeholders and delegations
  • High Level engagements with Senior/Executive internal stakeholders
  • To develop and provide tactical direction in order to revise and maintain the Job Evaluation Standard Operating Procedure
  • Allocate work, monitor outputs, and ensure quality assurance of Job Evaluation outcomes
  • Drive and review and continuous improvement of the Job Evaluation processes

Professional Officer:

  • Provide Job Evaluation services by applying established principles and procedures to evaluate and grade positions within the City
  • Provide guidance to line management on developing and amending job descriptions
  • Contribute to the implementation of Job Evaluation Standard Operating Procedure
  • Serve on and support the Job Evaluation teams
  • Manage and present standard Job Evaluation submissions to the JEC, and ensure timely inclusion on the agenda
  • Co-ordinate various JE processes and outcomes in support of corporate wide projects
  • Support various Job Evaluation projects and initiatives
  • Support the coordination and maintenance of the team’s Job Evaluation data to ensure audit readiness
  • Research, investigate and respond to matters raised by internal and external role players
  • Draft JE related memos, correspondence and reports to provide information and resolve queries
  • Analyse data to support Job Evaluation recommendations and to inform management decision-making
  • Administer the Job Evaluation System
