Purpose

• The Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Research Unit is looking for two experienced, energetic and organized fieldworkers to work on the Couples Health CoOp Plus (CHC+), a large randomized controlled trial working with young couples who use substances to provide them with biobehavioural interventions linked to HIV. 
• The successful candidate will be mainly responsible for screening and recruiting participants as necessary, consenting participants, tracking and retaining participants in the study and transporting participants to key study appointments, among other duties such as providing behavioural intervention workshops to couples and linking them to necessary services. 
• Successful candidates will be based at the ATODRU Delft site but will be expected to work within a number of surrounding communities on a daily basis. 
• Other responsibilities include data entry and checking the quality of data.

Requirements

• Minimum Grade 12 (tertiary diploma preferable)
• Have at least one-year relevant research experience total in projects that focus on substance use and have an intervention program that focuses on HIV risk
• Speak fluent English AND Afrikaans (isiXhosa is a bonus)
• Have a valid South African driver’s license with current driving experience

Skills & Competencies

• Be comfortable working with participants who use substances
• Familiarity with communities in Cape Town area
