Social Worker

Purpose
- We are seeking to appoint a compassionate, professional, and dedicated Social Worker to join our Clinical and Psychosocial Support Programme.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work
- Valid registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP)
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in social work practice
- Experience working with survivors of Gender-Based Violence, trauma, women, children, and vulnerable communities
- Valid driver’s licence is essential
- Must be able and willing to drive for outreach, court support, and programme activities
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of psychosocial support and trauma-informed care
- Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills
- Must be willing to work after hours and occasionally on weekends when required
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Empathy, professionalism, and ethical conduct
- Strong crisis intervention and problem-solving skills
- Computer literate
- Excellent organisational and administrative abilities
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters
- Strong community engagement and facilitation skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Providing psychosocial support, counselling, and case management services
- Conducting intake assessments and developing intervention plans
- Supporting survivors of Gender-Based Violence, abuse, trauma, and vulnerable families
- Providing pre- and post-court preparation and support services to survivors and vulnerable clients
- Conducting psychosocial assessments for placements within the Dorothy Zihlangu Transitional House
- Facilitating behavioural modification and psychosocial support sessions with children and adolescents
- Conducting home visits and community outreach interventions
- Facilitating support groups, community dialogues, and awareness sessions
- Providing court support and referrals to relevant stakeholders and service providers
- Liaising with SAPS, schools, clinics, courts, shelters, and other partner organisations
- Maintaining accurate case files, reports, and statistics
- Participating in multidisciplinary case discussions and programme activities
- Assisting with emergency interventions and crisis support where required
- Participating in after-hours interventions and occasional weekend programme activities where
necessary
