Purpose

  • We are seeking to appoint a passionate, energetic, and community-driven Community Development Worker to strengthen and support our outreach and community engagement programmes.

Requirements
  • Qualification as an Auxiliary Social Worker or Child and Youth Care Worker
  • Relevant experience within community development, outreach, or social services programmes
  • Experience working within vulnerable and under-resourced communities
  • Good understanding of community mobilisation and psychosocial support services
  • Valid driverโ€™s licence is essential
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage confidently with community members and stakeholders
  • Must be able and willing to drive for outreach and programme activities
  • Must be willing to work in remote and rural areas across the Western Cape
  • Must be willing to work after hours and occasionally on weekends when required
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities
  • Conducting community outreach and awareness programmes within schools, clinics, community
    centres, and vulnerable communities
  • Mobilising and engaging community members around issues relating to Gender-Based Violence, child
    protection, substance abuse, mental wellness, and social challenges
  • Facilitating community dialogues, educational workshops, awareness campaigns, and support groups
  • Supporting women, youth, children, elderly persons, and vulnerable groups through community-based interventions and referrals
  • Conducting home visits and follow-up support services within communities
  • Assisting with school-based programmes and youth empowerment initiatives
  • Supporting community events, campaigns, activations, and advocacy programmes
  • Identifying vulnerable households and referring beneficiaries to appropriate support services
  • Building and maintaining relationships with community leaders, schools, SAPS, clinics, faith-based
    organisations, and local stakeholders
  • Assisting with beneficiary registrations, attendance registers, statistics, and programme reports
  • Participating in outreach activities after hours and occasionally during weekends where required
  • Representing Ilitha Labantu professionally within communities and stakeholder engagements
