Christel House South Africa is seeking a Natural Science and Technology teacher (High School) to lead and strengthen Science and Engineering related subjects across Grades 8–9.
This role focuses on driving high-quality teaching, improved student performance, and a shift toward conceptual, high-level thinking in the Sciences.
The successful candidate will build a culture of accountability, resilience, and scientific confidence, ensuring that all students are given the opportunity to succeed in a rigorous academic environment.

A relevant university Science degree in Education, or related fields.
Teaching qualifications for High School instruction.
Registration with SACE, upholding its professional standards and ethical guidelines.
A personal statement outlining their educational philosophy, specifically in relation to Natural Sciences and Technology teaching

A strong understanding of teaching learners from diverse and disadvantaged contexts is essential.

Deliver CAPS-aligned Natural Sciences and Technology teaching for Grades 8 and 9.
Teach for conceptual understanding, scientific reasoning, design thinking, practical investigation and problem-solving.
Develop learners’ higher-order thinking through inquiry, analysis, explanation, design tasks, and practical problem-solving.
Use assessment data to identify learning gaps, track progress, and improve teaching.
Support CHSA’s academic achievement norms, including the expectation that learners work towards 50% and above.
Build strong Natural Sciences and Technology foundations for future success in Physics, LS, EGD and Design, and related fields.
Provide targeted academic support through early gap identification, differentiated intervention, progress monitoring, and support for both at-risk and high-potential learners.
Use student-centred learning to build inquiry, participation, collaboration, confidence, and ownership.
Support practical investigations, design projects, safe classroom practice, and hands-on learning.
Contribute to character, agency, mentoring, Student Life, and whole-child development.
Engage in professional development, coaching, and reflective teaching practice.
Use technology and AI responsibly to improve planning, feedback, intervention, simulations, and learner support.
