Purpose

  • Christel House South Africa is seeking a CAT and Coding teacher (High School) to strengthen Technology related subjects across Grades 8–12.
  • This role focuses on driving high-quality teaching, improved student performance, and a shift toward conceptual, high-level thinking in Next Generation Technologies.
  • The successful candidate will build a culture of accountability, resilience, and confidence, ensuring that all students are given the opportunity to succeed in a rigorous academic environment.

Requirements
  • A relevant university Computer Sciences/Information Technology degree in Education, or related fields.
  • Teaching qualifications for High School instruction.
  • Registration with SACE, upholding its professional standards and ethical guidelines.
  • A personal statement outlining their educational philosophy, specifically in relation to CAT and Coding teaching.
Skills & Competencies
  • A strong understanding of teaching learners from diverse and disadvantaged contexts is essential.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging CAT teaching for Grades 10 to 12 and Coding instruction for Grades 8 and 9.
  • Prepare CAT learners for internal assessments, practical tasks, and the NSC CAT examination.
  • Build strong coding foundations in Grades 8 and 9 through logic, sequencing, problem-solving, and
    computational thinking.
  • Teach digital fluency, workplace productivity, responsible technology use, and real-world digital application.
  • Use assessment data to identify learning gaps, track progress, and improve teaching.
  • Support CHSA’s academic achievement norms, including the expectation that learners work towards 50% and above.
  • Strengthen the Grade 8 to 12 digital pathway from Coding into CAT and other technology-related opportunities.
  • Use student-centred learning to build participation, collaboration, confidence, and ownership.
  • Support practical digital tasks, coding activities, project-based learning, and responsible use of technology.
  • Contribute to character, agency, mentoring, Student Life, and whole-child development.
  • Engage in professional development, coaching, and reflective teaching practice.
  • Use technology and AI responsibly to improve planning, feedback, intervention, and learner support.
