Purpose

  • The successful candidate will deliver engaging, CAPS-aligned teaching in Business Studies Grades 10–12 and EMS Grades 8–9, while strengthening learners’ understanding of business, economics,
    entrepreneurship, financial literacy and the world of work.
  • This role requires a teacher who can maintain high academic expectations, use data to improve learner outcomes, support learners holistically, and contribute meaningfully to CHSA’s values-based and trauma-informed school culture.

Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree, BEd, PGCE or relevant teaching qualification with specialisation in Business Studies, EMS, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Management, Education or a related field.
  • Current SACE registration.
  • Microsoft Certified Educator certification, or willingness to obtain it within the required CHSA timeframe.
  • Experience teaching FET Business Studies will be an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong subject knowledge in Business Studies and EMS.
  • The ability to teach Business Studies Grades 10–12.
  • The ability to teach EMS Grades 8–9.
  • Strong planning, assessment and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to CAPS-aligned curriculum delivery, academic rigour, learner agency and whole-child development.
  • MIEE participation, or willingness to maintain annual compliance.
Responsibilities
  • Teach Business Studies and EMS with strong subject knowledge and academic rigour.
  • Prepare learners for internal assessments and the NSC Business Studies examination.
  • Build strong EMS foundations for future success in commercial subjects.
  • Use assessment data to identify gaps, support learner progress and improve outcomes.
  • Teach higher-order thinking, case-study analysis, business reasoning and structured written responses.
  • Support learners through differentiation, MTSS and targeted intervention.
  • Maintain high expectations while providing care, structure and trauma-informed support.
  • Embed entrepreneurship, financial literacy and workplace readiness into teaching.
  • Contribute to Student Life, school events and whole-child development.
  • Use technology and AI responsibly to support planning, feedback, differentiation and learner engagement.
  • Maintain Microsoft education credentials, including MCE and annual MIEE participation, within the required CHSA timeframe.
