Purpose

  • An opportunity has become available for Despatcher to take full responsibility of the overall function of the despatch function.
  • To plan, coordinate and manage daily operations in the department such that work is performed effectively by those accountable and tasks are executed timeously and effectively.

Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics/ Transportation Management or studying towards is an advantage
  • Operational experience
  • Administration
  • 2 years experience in the Transport industry
  • Valid code 14 drivers license with PrDP

Responsibilities
  • Supporting and assisting Management with:
    • Handling administrative tasks and supervising and controlling driver activities
    • Conduct driver briefings before shift: route changes, client instructions, hazards and vehicle defects
    • Compile daily drivers rosters and assign buses to specific shifts/routes based on client contracts
    • Balance driver hours to comply with fatigue management and rest period rules
    • Adjust schedules for overtime, weekend shifts, public holidays or ad hoc client requests
    • Monitor buses via Tracking/Two-Way Radio and track real-time locations, delays and escalate immediately
