Purpose

• An excellent opportunity exists for dedicated and responsible individual to fulfil the role of: Payroll Officer in the Finance Department.
• The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the production of an accurate and timeous payroll every month in terms of applicable legislation and company policy.

Requirements

• Matric and a National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Finance/Accounting or equivalent relevant qualification.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in payroll
• Payroll system, financial system, Employee Self Service and Human Resource system experience will be advantageous.

Skills & Competencies

• Overall understanding of Finance and interface between payroll and finance functions
• Microsoft package ERP system and basic understanding of GRAP, PFMA and Treasury regulations
• Attentive to detail, quality focused and high regard for confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Process, record and ensure salary administrative activities are performed in accordance with audit guidelines, policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Compile General Ledger journals for salary related accounts
• Compile and ensure all external payments are accurate, timeously paid to avoid interest or penalty charges
• Resolve any salary related queries by interpreting information and responding in the required manner, to employees and auditors
• Provide annual payroll inputs into the budgets
• Generate payroll reports and supply information as and when required
• Serve as a relief to others in the section.
