Purpose
- The Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) is seeking a skilled and customer-focused ICT Assistant to provide technical support and ensure smooth operation of our ICT infrastructure.
- This role is critical in supporting Members and the Administration with end-user services, technical troubleshooting, and application support.
- WCPP has adopted a hybrid working model.
- We therefore require individuals who are resilient, able to self-manage and deal effectively with ambiguity.
Requirements
- Matric and an appropriate 3-year National Diploma (or an equivalent or higher qualification) in Information Technology;
- and a mandatory ICT CERTIFICATION in the categories listed below (any one)
- CompTIA: A+,Network+, Security+
- Microsoft: MDAA, MCSA, MCSE, Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect
- Axelos: ITIL Foundation
- Cisco: CCNA
- A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in a hands-on IT support technician role within a well structured organisational environment.
- A minimum of twelve (12) months’ demonstrable experience in Level 2 desktop support, including independent fault resolution and escalation management.

- Good Audio-Visual technical and Meeting Room management experience
- Practical Streaming skills using tools like OBS
- General Microsoft 365 Skills (SharePoint Online, One Drive, Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Defender)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
- Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Group Policy
- Experience with Microsoft Windows command line activities
- Experience with Windows desktop information security processes and setups.
- Experience with configuring and troubleshooting mobile devices.
- LAN Skills (Ethernet and TCP/IP)
- Experience with enterprise Wireless.
- Good technical troubleshooting skills
- Good Knowledge of ITIL framework and Service Desk protocols.

Responsibilities
- Offer first and second -level desktop and remote support for Members and Staff.
- Assist with Audio Visual meeting room setup .
- Assist with Audio Visual setup for hybrid sessions.
- Streaming of parliamentary sessions using the OBS streaming application.
- Provide end-user support services, including helpdesk administration, onboarding, and basic systems training.
- Technically support WCPP business applications (ERP, Microsoft Office, SharePoint Online, One Drive, Teams and Bespoke Apps
- Deploy software upgrades, patches, and ensure endpoint compliance with information security policies and security posture.
- Ensure endpoints are deployed securely and hybrid joined to the domain and cloud.
- Communicate security awareness and compliance.
- Troubleshooting and testing during upgrades and rollouts.
- Troubleshoot endpoint Wireless, LAN and WAN issues
- Participate in the rollout of ICT projects, including laptop refresh cycles and technical deployments.
- Participate in procurement and financial admin processes.
- Maintain and update computer inventory and asset management records.
- Working after hours and on standby.

- Note: Online course participation (e.g., Udemy, LinkedIn Learning, or Microsoft online courses, which confirm participation but do not necessarily validate proficiency through rigorous assessment will not be accepted.
- Only certifications issued by certification authorities (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, AXELOS) for which formal examinations were successfully completed will be recognised; Candidates had to pass formal, proctored examinations at certification centres, which provide objective assurance of knowledge and skills.
- Certification validation must be provided and certifications must be valid during the period April 2025-May 2026, should it expire.
