Purpose

  • Support the SFC team by assisting in the collection, preparation, integration, and basic analysis of financial and statistical data.
  • Contribute to forensic evidence development under supervision, helping to deliver high-quality data outputs that support law enforcement investigations and the FIC’s mandate.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, business information systems/analysis, finance, actuarial Science, quantitative risk management, business & mathematics and informatics or a related field (a higher degree like a master degree will be advantageous).
  • 1–2 years of experience in data analysis, data management, or a related field (internship or project experience acceptable).
Skills & Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of SAS, SQL, Python, or other data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with financial or banking data is advantageous.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and basic data visualisation tools (PowerBI or similar) preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical and analytical skills.
Responsibilities

Data Engagement and Requirements Support

  • Assist in gathering and documenting business and data requirements from project teams.
  • Help identify new data sources and maintain relationships with data providers under guidance.

Database Programming and Development Support

  • Assist in writing and maintaining basic scripts and queries for data extraction and integration.
  • Support data migration and integration activities as directed by senior staff.

Data Quality Assurance and Problem Resolution

  • Conduct routine data quality checks and flag inconsistencies or errors for review.
  • Assist in resolving basic data queries and reporting issues to the Data Technologist.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Prepare simple data summaries and visualisations as instructed.
  • Support the preparation of reports and documentation for investigations.

Data Management and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of data processes and document steps taken in analyses.
  • Assist in developing and updating templates for data checks and reporting.

Big Data Evaluation and Analytical Support

  • Support the team in searching for and extracting information from large datasets.
  • Conduct preliminary analyses and prepare user-friendly outputs for review.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Participate in team meetings and assist in preparing materials for presentations.
  • Communicate progress and findings clearly to team members and stakeholders as required.

Planning and Execution

  • Plan and prioritise own work to meet deadlines and deliverables as set by supervisors.
  • Perform other data-related tasks as assigned by management.
