Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works Contract Administrator: Land Transport Contracts, Ref No. TPW 155/2021 Cape Town

Purpose

  • The Department of Transport and Public Works, Western Cape has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to manage the administrative processes for the implementation of modal contracts in the Western Cape Province.

Requirements

  • An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher qualification);
  • A minimum of 3 year contract administration or contract development experience;
  • Recommendation: Working knowledge of project management processes.

  • Applicable legislative and regulatory requirements in the development of Public Transport projects;
  • Administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures and terminology;
  • Information Management systems;
  • Communication (written and verbal) skills;
  • Proven computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high level administrative support services to the sub-directorate Transport Development in order to achieve the strategic objectives of the component;
  • Active administrative participation on Public Transport projects;
  • Evaluate contract performance against contract measures to calculate service providers payments and to determine performance by using compliance monitoring;
  • Assist with sound financial administration of the component;
  • Coordinate logistical arrangements for meetings when required;
  • Respond to general enquiries received via telephone, email and written correspondence from internal and external stakeholders, find resolutions or refer to correct official;
  • Highlight need for intervention/evaluation for chronic non-compliance.

Remuneration

  • R261 372 per annum (Salary level 7)

Note on remuneration

  • Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.
  • MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed.
  • Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
