Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Head Payroll to introduce and maintain systems and procedures aimed at ensuring efficiency. This job will manage the payroll function for a staff compliment of over 5000 employees, supporting 80 operations nationally and a team of payroll administrators that processes multiple payrolls. Responsibilities include all aspects of pay administration including preparation, documentation and disbursement of all payroll payments, payroll taxes. Management of benefit schemes from a payroll perspective. Please refer to the minimum requirements, duties and responsibilities below for further information.

Responsibilities

• Maintains payroll information by designing systems; directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data • Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers • Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of pay checks or electronic transfers to bank accounts • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages • Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee taxes, unemployment, and workers compensation payments. • Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies. Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests. • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures. • Complies with legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential. • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results. Maintains payroll staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. • Maintains payroll staff job results by counselling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

• 4year Degree / NQF level 7 • Up to 8 years’ experience • Proven experience of Psiber Human Capital system will be advantageous
