Purpose

  • Monitor communication links and data flow as well as operational computer processes and maintain computer networks, LAN, WAN and Internet.
  • Monitor Daily, weekly and monthly back up of the servers by compiling reports on a weekly status of backups and execute advanced administration functions on operational servers.
  • Leading the operational support of weather observation and forecasting activities in obtaining missing data, also leading in the planning of hardware and software, network equipment and printer installation.
  • Leading and monitoring end-user technical support, planning and implementation of security procedures and testing new system and application as well as their rollout.
  • Configuring of Microsoft and Linux servers.
  • Provide second level maintenance and administration of specialized System. E.g. Radar communication and Aviation Display system and Meteorological switching system.
  • From time-to-time Configuration of routers and firewall.

Requirements
  • National Diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology, Information system or equivalent qualification.
  • B- Tech or Honours will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of UNIX or Linux
  • Code EB or Code 08 (without endorsements)
  • No International Travel Restrictions
  • 2 yearsโ€™ experience in an IT environment, performing network Administration

Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to staff on technical computing issues.
  • Maintain user account details.
  • Make regular updates of virus protection, software and operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot any reported problems.
  • Keeping the network up and running.
  • Maintenance of network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers.
  • Create and maintain email accounts for staff on O365.
  • Implement new projects as stated in the strategic plan of the institution.
  • Install LTE on user laptops
  • Provide support, via phone, to internal end users on variety of computer issues as related to both computer software and computer and related hardware.
  • Install and maintain networks / LANโ€™s
  • Install desktop computers and servers.
  • Linking workstations to the servers of different Network Operating Systems
  • Report faulty communication lines to Service Provider for repairs
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot Internet connections
  • Make hardware and software upgrade recommendations.
