Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks, trailers, plant and machinery as required, may inspect all the fleet and report faults to the Workshop Foreman to assist in scheduling and maintain or repairs as required. Please refer to the minimum requirements, duties and responsibilities below for further information.
Responsibilities
Servicing of company vehicles to predefined checklists • Attend to breakdowns and carry out the necessary repairs on Trucks & Tankers • Apply Health & Safety rules and regulations in all aspects of job, use power, machine and hands tools safely• Ensure vehicles are kept in line with legal requirements and company policies i.e. roadworthy etc. • Maintain a safe and clean working place at all times • Administer regular reporting to management regarding breakdowns, services etc • Perform ancillary duties to the above as determined by management on an ongoing basis
Requirements
Understand preventative, planned and scheduled maintenance • Qualified Diesel mechanic with trade test and 3 years post trade test experience • Valid driver's license, preferably EC. • Own transport essential • Must be prepared to work overtime and do standby as required • Comply and enforce company policies and health & safety legislation • Ability to work independently without supervision • Problem solving ability • Must have own tools • Must have knowledge of MAN, M/Benz, Volvo and UD Nissan • Must have knowledge of Tankers • Must have the ability to perform fault finding
