Overview

TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. TB HIV Care provides health care services throughout South Africa to both the general population and communities at increased risk for HIV and TB, including adolescent girls and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs. Responsibilities

• Routinely testing newly diagnosed HIV positive clients and pregnant woman for TB in accordance with revised national guidelines; • TB Index contact tracing and screening • Linkage to appropriate treatment for TB disease (DS/ DR-TB) and latent TB infection • Provide counselling and adherence support to promote retention in treatment and care for all until completion • Support implementation, uptake and retention on new treatment regimens • Seek out and offer HIV testing to clients with unknown HIV status, and DR-TB patients • Actively support linkage to ART of all newly diagnosed HIV positive clients and those with known HIV not on treatment • Support counselling and education of TB patients on i) prevention of TB, ii) importance of contact screening, and iii) the role of LTBI treatment in prevention of TB disease • Utilise contact tracing slips to encourage TB patients to bring contacts for Tb screening • Promote LTBI treatment (3HP) focusing on children <5yrs (and people living with HIV) • Support implementation of active drug safety monitoring (ADSM) processes • Support roll out of Pharmacovigilance Management System (PViMS) at DR -TB sites • Ensures safe and correct disposal of biomedical waste • Ensures that all staff adhere to the protocol with respect to the wearing of masks within consulting areas • Supports facility management in implementing IPC measures in accordance with local guidelines and operating procedures

Requirements

• Matric / grade 12 • Certificate in Nursing from a college or related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience • Annual SANC Registered • Clear Criminal Record • Ability to speak isiXhosa, English and any other SA official language
