Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds Administrator Cape Recife, Gqeberha


  • SANCCOB, a leading marine conservation non-profit organization, seeks to employ an Administrator to join their dynamic team in Cape Recife, Gqeberha.
  • The Administrator will be responsible for providing financial and administrative duties, enabling the centre to run efficiently, and will report to the Centre Manager of SANCCOB Gqeberha.


  • Grade 12
  • A relevant qualification in finance or administration (NQF level 4 and up) will be an added advantage
  • 3 or more years’ experience in a finance or administrative position
  • Previous exposure and experience in the NGO sector an added advantage
  • Valid code 8 driver's licence

  • Responsible for petty cash management and control
  • Responsible for the procurement and inventory function for SANCCOB Gqeberha, including internal controls
  • Responsible for the SANCCOB point of sale system, including daily reconciliations and internal controls
  • To ensure that financial documentation is accurately allocated and tracked in line with internal tracking categories
  • To assist with obtaining quotations for goods and or services required
  • To ensure that all required financial documentation, including petty cash, supplier invoices, supplier statements and credit card supporting documentation is submitted to the Cape Town office timeously


  • To manage the Gqeberha souvenir shop and ensure the safety and control of stock, including weekly stock takes and reconciliations
  • To ensure that volunteers are effectively trained to assist in the souvenir shop and with the point-of-sale system
  • To maintain required stock levels and replenish stock according to SANCCOB’s protocols
  • To co-ordinate the running of the coffee shop, including the training of volunteers and/or interns to assist
  • To ensure that internal standard operating procedures (financial policies, HR policies, POPI policies and any other policies that the employer may from time to time direct), are signed by all relevant staff, interns and volunteers


  • To answer the telephone, screening and directing calls in a professional manner
  • To take accurate messages and ensure messages are passed on to the correct recipient in a timely manner
  • To regularly update the employee contact list and extension list and provide to all staff
  • To answer the front door and welcome SANCCOB guests in a professional and courteous manner
  • To prepare meeting spaces and refreshments as and when required
  • To assist the Education Supervisor with ensuring that sufficient volunteer support is available for front of house and that volunteers are adequately trained in line with the above

Resource Development:

  • To assist with fundraising and marketing events
  • To actively participate in meetings, as and when required
  • To be a strong administrative support to the Resource Development team
  • To assist the Education Supervisor with ensuring that sufficient volunteer support is available for events (front of house and other)
