Purpose

  • In delivering ‘social science that makes a difference’, the Research Programmes of the Human Sciences Research Council initiate and undertake policy-oriented research projects and programmes from its offices in Cape Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria.
  • Its public-purpose mandate is set out in the Human Sciences Research Council Act of 2008.
  • CeSTII seeks to appoint, on a 9-month contract, highly motivated and capable Research Assistants for the South African Agricultural Business Innovation Survey.
  • The Research Assistants will be based in the Cape Town HSRC Office.
  • The level of appointment will depend on the mix of qualifications and experience of the successful candidate(s).

Requirements

  • A minimum of a National Diploma or equivalent experience;
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Knowledge of MS Access will be advantageous;
  • Proven survey research and fieldwork experience;
  • Skilled in telephone interviewing;
  • Good negotiation skills;

Responsibilities

  • Online Dispatch and follow-up of Survey Questionnaires;
  • Telephone and online-based fieldwork on large national surveys;
  • Data capture and understanding of the basic principles of data
